His Excellency the President having issued his writ for the election of a member of the House of Assembly for the Soufriere constituency the Returning Officer of the said Constituency will on the 20th day of May, 2016 now next ensuing between the hours of nine a.m. and four p.m. at the Soufriere Police Station proceed to the nomination, and if there is no opposition, to the election of a member of the Soufriere Constituency.
Forms of nomination papers may be obtained at the house of the Returning Officer at Pointe Michel between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.daily (Sunday excepted).
Every nomination paper must be signed by any six or more electors qualified to vote in the Soufriere Constituency and be handed to the Returning Officer between the said hours of nine (9) a.m. and four (4) p.m.
No nomination paper shall be valid or acted upon by the Returning Officer unless it is accompanied by
- the consent in writing of the person therein nominated; and
- a deposit of five hundred dollars in cash
In the event of an election being contested the poll will take place between the hours of seven a.m. and five p.m. on the 7th day of June, 2016 and the preliminary count of votes will take place upon the close of the poll in accordance with section 39 of the Act and the final count will take place at the Soufriere Police Station on the 8th day of June, 2016 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. and at such places as may hereafter be appointed.
The house or office of the Returning Officer for the Soufriere constituency is situated at Pointe Michel.
