The Multi-Purpose Identification (MPID) System (National Identification Card) can be described as a regional identification system that is being developed by the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) as part of the Electronic Government for Regional Integration Project (EGRIP).
The main reason for this Card is to provide one common ID Card in Dominica and other OECS countries to identify individuals among different systems. For example, it could be used for voting, identifying and individual at hospitals, civil registries, social security, customs, banks, telephone, companies and supermarkets.
The launch of the National Identification Card is part of the Government of Dominica's development strategy for improving the lives of people by simplifying the processes of providing services to individuals and businesses.
